[News Boquete] Alberto Extends Thanks

I'm sending this on behalf of Alberto Chiré, who wants to thank all those who have recently come to his aid. He's deeply appreciative of the community's kindness and generosity. I get the impression he and his family are pretty well floored that so many people are so good hearted.

Through his site, www.GoFundMe.com/Alberto, we have to date raised $585 ($545 through the site and $40 collected here in Boquete). This is enough to help Alberto and his large family scrape through the next two months or three months and allow them to spend $150 or so to repair a dilapidated shelter just to the south of Hotel Ladera. Once it's made habitable, Alberto will move in, and Boquete's own Dr. Chen can make house calls. And, critically, in case of emergency, Alberto's family won't have to attempt lugging him down 250 yards of rugged, nearly impassable trail in the dark or the rain (or both) with his life on the line. Once he moves into the new shelter, his wife will be in near-constant attendance, along with one or more of their children and/or extended family.

The donations received so far will help Alberto and his family purchase basic essentials (mainly food) for a short time, but clothing, medicines, school materials, etc., are still difficult for them to come by. If you haven't yet donated, please consider doing so at www.GoFundMe.com/Alberto.

Gracias a todos,

Ron Larsen

P.S. When you visit his site, you'll see a picture of Midori, my wife. Why? Because she has a Facebook account, which is needed to help get the word out, whereas I'm still a Facebook Luddite.
