The InterNations Weekly
Our New Charity Groups – Make the World a Better Place! In May 2012, we have introduced our InterNations Charity Groups, a program which is designed to support non-profit and charitable organizations. Each group will focus on one specific organization in their respective community and support the cause with different activities. Initially, we launched the InterNations Charity Groups only in Munich to test the water. But, of course, it has always been our goal to extend this program to all our Local Communities around the world. Just recently, we have started a Charity Group in Singapore which will focus on supporting a home for disabled people. The group already has 115 members of 28 nationalities who are all eager to offer support. Additional Charity Groups in New York and Hong Kong will soon follow suit, so stay tuned! In the meantime, our Charity Group in Munich has grown to almost 360 members. We have organized various activities, including a BBQ, a picnic, and a clothing donation, so far. The next activity takes place on this upcoming Saturday, October 20th, when InterNations members and some of our team members take part in Munich's Hero's Race. Although the registration for runners has been closed, you can still donate or come around on Saturday and cheer us on! So far, we have collected more than 3,000€.
Crazy Hats and a Spooky Head Start Our upcoming event in New York City is just right for all art lovers in the Big Apple. Baang and Burne Contemporary Art has arranged a private viewing event exclusively for InterNations. Their new exhibit "Boys don't Cry" is a three-person show with works by Joseph Cultice, Chris Jehly and Rich Tu. Join us on Tuesday, October 23rd, for our New York Private Art and Social Event to enjoy great food, amazing company, and exciting new art. Our Local Community in Malmö, on the other hand, is hosting a Special October Jazz and Wine Event on Friday, October 26th. Do you enjoy a relaxed evening with good friends, great wine, and live jazz? Then you should join us and taste your way through the exclusive wine menu. Attendance is limited, so make sure to sign up early on. In Beijing, we will do things a little bit differently this time! Get ready for our funniest event in Beijing so far, as we invite you to a Crazy Sombrero Night on Friday, October 26th. So get out your craziest, funniest hat and meet us there for a night of dancing and socializing. Although it is still about two weeks until Halloween, some Local Communities are taking a head start. Halloween is celebrated all around the world, on the day before the Western Christian feast of All Hallows or All Saints' Day. Halloween is traditionally celebrated by wearing scary customs, which is why we invite you to our first Halloween costume parties this year. The first community to kick off the spooky season is Singapore, with its Twilight-themed Halloween Event, on Thursday, October 25th. Immediately following are the Sydney Halloween Party, our Amman October Halloween Party , and the Spooky InterNations Basel Get-together, on Friday, October 26th. These events offer not only a relaxed atmosphere and great company as all of our usual events but also costume contests, spooky treats, and much more.
Tech Talks and Hikes The Taipei Tech Talks Group meets up on Tuesday, October 23rd, to discuss OSx, Windows 8 and Linux. Group members get together at a nice coffee shop to talk about which computer platforms work best and why. In Jakarta, our Bowling Group also has a new activity coming up. On Thursday, October 25th, the members meet again for a Bowling Night before the long weekend. Once everyone has signed up, you can discuss whether you wish to get together for dinner beforehand. Do you prefer walks and hikes to the rather relaxed activities mentioned above? Then join the Munich Alpine Division Group for their next activity. On Sunday, October 21st, members of the group get together for a beautiful hiking tour to the Mountain Baumgartenschneid. The hike will take about four and a half hours, and includes a stop at the Gasthaus Galaun for lunch. This is a great way to spend your Sunday, so strap on those hiking boots and sign up for this activity! In Bali, our Discovery and Trips Group has organized a Nature Herbal Walk on Saturday, October 27th. With the help of a guide, you get to find out which of the plants that grow along roads and rice fields are traditionally used both for food and for therapeutic means in Bali. You'll learn to recognize these herbs and plants by their sight, smell, and taste. |
