The InterNations Member Rewards Program Did you know that you can now collect a reward for inviting your expat friends to join InterNations? Because you all have been so great in the past about spreading the word and making InterNations one of the biggest expat communities in the world, we have decided to give something back to you. Our Member Rewards Program will run until November 31st, 2012 and this is how it works: invite at least 8 of your expat friends (i.e. somebody who is living outside of his or her home country) and receive a one-month Albatross membership for free. As an Albatross member, you can attend events for free or at a reduced rate. You get to join or open Activity Groups, send unlimited private messages, and get the priority on the guest list of InterNations events. You can invite as many of your friends as you wish until the end of the program. So take out your address book and spread the word about InterNations!
Racing Heroes First things first: there is a new Charity Group event in Munich coming up for which we need your support. The "Heldenrennen" (heroes race) is a charity run for which participants have to raise 300€ in donations. The race takes place on Saturday, October 20th, but registrations end on Sunday, October 7th. If you are not much of a runner, you may also support our runners with a small donation or come around to cheer us on. Our members in Zurich get to enjoy a very special treat, as we invite you to join us at the Zurich Oriental Evening. On Wednesday, October 10th, you get the chance to mix and mingle with other InterNations members in a cozy oriental atmosphere. The Warsaw October Event will surprise you with a fun interactive game and a raffle. You've got the chance to win some great prices, so join us on Wednesday, October 10th. On Sunday, October 14th, InterNations Detroit is going to Ann Arbor. We meet at an exclusive location in downtown Ann Arbor to enjoy a great menu and amazing cocktails. So come around and meet other global minds.
Books, Hikes, and Salsanations For our bookish members, we have some great activities coming up. On Tuesday, October 9th, our London Book Club meets to discuss travel books that traverse time. The book for this meeting will be "Between the Woods and the Water" by Patrick Leigh Fermor. Although it is still a little way down the road, expats in Brazil should mark their calendar for the next meeting of the São Paulo Book Club on Friday, October 26th. The group will talk about the Jane Austen classic Sense and Sensibility. Are you looking for something a little more active? Global minds in Brussels should not miss out on the Brussels Salsa Group. Join the fun and come to our next activity on Sunday, October 7th, for Salsanations. After two and a half hours of free beginners' merengue and bachata lessons, the day will continue at a club where you can put your dancing skills to the test. Or why not join the Prague Hiking Group for the Karlstejn Hike on Tuesday, October 9th. Now, this is a rather challenging hike but if you like the great outdoors, it is an activity you should not miss.
Before I die I want to… This week it's all about the essential things in life. Some of our members have started to discuss the question of what makes them happy on our world forum. Whether it is spending time with your children, hanging out with your friends, or making someone you love smile, everyone has something that makes their life worthwhile. Why don't you tell us what goes on your list of things that make you happy? But even those who know exactly what makes their life worth living on a daily basis have a bucket list (a list of things they wish to do before they die). Some want to have children, or make their loved ones happy, other just wish to make the world a better place. Visit the world forum and tell us how you would finish the sentence Before I die I want to…. |
